Mom went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and many friends and family on 9/9/17

One day at a time was her favorite song.

She was a great Mom and Friend. I will miss her greatly. God could not have chosen anyone better for my Mom. I always felt loved and knew I had someone on my side. She always made sure there was lots of laughter and lots of fun in our home growing up. She was spontaneous and adventurous and courageous. She loved deeply and helped everyone she could. She would lend her ear to all those who needed her. One of her favorite things was to wake up on Saturday morning and have all the neighbor kids sleeping all over the house. There were never many rules in our house and all were welcome. She loved life to the fullest. She was very accepting and loyal to those close to her. Encouraging words came easy for her. She use to say, her car was her best friend. She loved to travel and stayed on the road a lot. She was always up for a trip. Thank you Mom for taking me to church and teaching me about Jesus. She was a great example of His unconditional love. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have had her for my Mom. I love you MOM.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford (Roy) Nicholson, her son, Bobby Nicholson, her Mom, Mattie Tanksley and Dad, Bill Tanksley, and brother, Bill Tanklsey Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Jacque Nicholson Jakob and son-in-law, Craig, sister, Betty Hicks, and nieces, Lynda Cole, Sandra Ivy, Marilyn LaRochelle, Gloria Tanksley Jr. and nephew, Bill Hicks, cousins, Richard Carlton, Carolyn Carlton, Richard Wayne Straughan, Thomas Earl Staughan and Angie Stone, all of whom she loved very dearly.

Family and friends gathered and shared memories during a visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2017 in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where funeral services were held in the chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017.
